Magnolia Bar & Grill, located in historic Old Louisville and opened in 1962, offers no grill and a nickname used solely by those in the know, Mag Bar, all while making a case for greatest Louisville dive bar.
The exterior features not one, but two antique dive bar signs, and the inside décor reflects the dive bar theme with items such as a framed photo of FDR complemented with a pair of fishnet-clad mannequin legs.
Mag Bar is a darkly lit dive bar with pool tables, a pinball machine, and a punk jukebox. The walls are adorned with vintage beer signs, and an ancient fan provides some relief when the crowds become too large. Friendly bartenders improve on already low-cost pints and pours.
