Barracuda Lounge, or simply Barracuda, is a gay bar in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan in New York City. Opened in 1995, is well-known for its regular drag performances. It is a sibling business to the eatery Elmo and the nightclub Industry.
Barracuda continues to be a popular spot in Chelsea, not the least of which is the decor’s constant change. Five evenings a week, drag acts are presented in a lounge that transitions from a large, elegant bar with a pool table in the rear (Sundays through Thursdays). The performances often draw large crowds thanks to their great skill, many freebies, big-name appearances, and album releases. It’s a location you can bring your female friends to in addition to meeting people, with moderately priced beverages, welcoming bartenders and servers.
