The Bayou, which is at 8939 Santa Monica Boulevard between Hilldale and Robertson in the city’s Boystown nightlife district
It is owned by Northwood and Matt Chase. Northwood has been quoted as describing it as a “New Orleans-themed dive bar that is much more of a house party atmosphere.”
At the Bayou, a Boystown dive club with a New Orleans motif, Southern rowdiness and WeHo excess meet. With bare chests (of the male kind, mind you; the attractive, pleasant bartenders are never not shirtless), beads, Cajun food, fun loud music, and a buzzed-up crowd, Mardi Gras vibes are always there. There are two happy hours: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
You’ll have a hard time getting such pricing anywhere else in the area. Without themed evenings, a WeHo bar would scarcely exist, and the Bayou delivers with ’80s parties and Thirsty Thursdays that bring back college days, replete with flip cup and beer pong. If you’re itching for a carefree good time in a buzzing and welcoming LGBT club, it may not be for everyone, this is a good stop.
