La Cueva (the Bear Cave), as the name suggests, is a gay bar for bears and their pals. The establishment has been open since 1964, making it Latin America’s oldest gay bar. Locals and visitors both like it.

Every Saturday night is ‘Noite dos Maduros’ (Mature’s Night), which is packed with older guys seeking for a good time and their younger admirers. On Fridays, a more diverse crowd dances to pop music.

Rio’s elder gay population and their admirers frequent the club and disco, which plays Brazilian and techno music till late.

The interiors of La Cueva are extremely unique: you’ll feel like you’re in a cave!
