The East Colfax location of Tight End, a sports bar created for Denver’s gay community, has taken over Streets Denver’s former space.
Owner of X Bar Steven Alix has been looking for a location to create a gay sports bar for the past five years, and he has finally found it at the former Streets Denver location. The rock bar at 1501 East Colfax Avenue shut its doors this month after operating for more than 20 years. The Tight End was established in the old punk venue by Alix, who also runs the Squire Lounge with Sudy Kudva a few streets east on East Colfax Avenue.
Tight End pays respect to Streets Denver by retaining club memorabilia, such as the venue’s signage and posters, even though the interior and patios were renovated.
The popularity of Tight End, a full-service sports bar with two patios, is growing thanks to its weekly Myxed Karaoke events. Every Wednesday starting at 9pm till close, Myxed Music has added additional karaoke to the strip at the center of the activity in downtown Denver and the Capital! The one and only gay sports bar is where you should sing your heart out!
